Default "A" Summer-Cruise from Frankfurt to...

We had left some days to cruise, so we left Frankfurt yesterday morning.
We travelled B8 (northwest) to the Westerwald .
Ulrike asked to visit Dernbach im Weserwald for a Fotostop
at the Junkjard of the Ludolfs. They (4 brothers) are famous over
here as they and their adventures are in television frequently.

Nobody home, so we headed west....

Incredible hot so we had gas bubbles in the fuel and
lots of stops in great countryside.

due to heat, tiny roads and lots of curves, we managed to go about
16o miles yesterday to Burg (Mosel ), where we found a nice Hotel with
a closed garage for our "A".

Today we started late and travelled towards Berncastel-Kues, where we left the river an turned north

Today there was heat and rain, we had a flat tire due to a valve failure. Than
the kill-switch collapsed parttime (good one - part time failure once driving, ok
once parked) . Than the spare tire got punctured (wow - 3 years without tire-probs
and than 2 tire-probs on one day....). Totally worn we reached Bergheim
(just 130 miles today)
Tomorrow, we will go to Schloß Dyck in Jüchen , where there is a big 3 day
old-car-meeting. We will be there just tomorrow and than travel west.
I will update, once i have Net-access
Greetings from germany-country-side

"Herzlichen Glückwunsch" Christoph!

Your post expresses my emotions after I complete a weekend "run" to the hardware store.

Keep driving.

Keep enjoying your "A's."

Christoph,
Thank you for sharing. You drove trough some of my old "stomping grounds". I lived in Ulmen (in the Eifel Mountains on Autobahn 5 halfway between Koblenz and Trier) for 39 months and visited Cochem often. I miss driving down the Mosel and seeing sites like Cochem Castle. Ulmen is just a few kilometers from the Nurburgring and I went to the "Old Timer" races there. The wine fests along the Mosel are great!
Gute Reise!

Christoff,
Great pics! Except for the castle, looks much like you might be touring Purdy Swoft's area in Alabama, or my old home area in Oklahoma! In Oklahoma, if you can find the correct "woods" road, you can stop for a "Moonshine Break." Bill W.

Great story!

My bucket list includes shipping my '30 Coupe to Europe and spending a long summer driving the countryside. My kids don't need any money...............

Hallo Christoph,

Wow, what a fun tour. It looks like you all drove right by our former house in Boden (near Montabaur) in the Westerwald.....too cool! Yup, reminds me of the tours we used to drive through out the Westerwald. It sure is a nice region to drive through with lots of small roads and dorfs.

Your photo of your Navi was a bit off however, I can only see her feet in the photo!
