"C" Head Date Stamp?
The date stamp is different on this "C" Head than with other diamond head/blocks that I have. Kinda blury but it has G278 embossed and no other visable markings except for the "C".
Any thoughts?

Re: "C" Head Date Stamp?
Could this have been made for a US government contract ? Like the GI issue wartime equipment.I have a few wartime ones dated 41, 42, and 39 They used these engines on fire pumps in England during WW2 Whats the latest date one that you have ? It would be interesting to know when they stopped making them .

Re: "C" Head Date Stamp?
My other head is dated 11845, and the block date ends in 9 (39 or 49). The date on the head validates production into the mid 40s. I have never seen a head from the european GAZ engine to know how it is marked.

Re: "C" Head Date Stamp?
I think the German B engines with the insert brgs ,drilled crank etc that were built into the 50,s were called model G28T.Since the G28 is included in the cyl head # maybe it is off one of those engines. If so it should be higher comp ratio than the std B ,(marked C) head.
