Default "00" viscosity fluid gear grease info

It's been brought to my attention that the "00" viscosity fluid gear grease by Farm Oyl that I have mentioned in other threads isn't carried by all John Deere dealers . After checking www.farmoyl.com I found it is only marketed in MN,WI,IL,IA &MO . They have an order line # & a dealers list plus all you want to know about this stuff . Looks to me like 4 or 5 quart bottles will fit into a USPS Flat Rate Medium box . I paid $7.99 for the last quart I bought . Even with the shipping cost it's way ahead of the 5 gallon pail of the other brand . No I'm not telling anyone to use this stuff-you need to figure that out yourself . This is so those that are interested can find it . David J

I bought some Stens 00 Grease, Part # 770-123, around 8 bucks a guart as I remember. Like Flatheadernie said,,,any good lawn and garden or mower repair shop can get it for you. You can also find it online.

On the label it says, " with extreme pressure additives. For use in transmissions, gear boxes on riding mowers and tractors, that specifically call for a grease of this consistency."

I wonder what standard 00 viscosity is based on. It reminds me of the old 600W steam cylinder oil that predates the Society of Automotive Engineers. At least I can understand the SAE standard.

Thanks for the replies & it's good to know it's available elsewhere . Is the Stens stuff lithium based ? The Farm Oyl stuff is . Thanks again & maybe others know of other sources of this stuff ? I gotta believe this stuff is readily available all over if you look in the right places .
