cause of too much movement? Spacers, tang, bushings, worn collar?

I removed the heat deflector and the problem is gone. That doesn't change the fact that there is way too much up and down movement of my distributor shaft. When the box arrives from Snyder's I will tear into the distributor and see if the movement can be brought under control.
PS Putting that old cast iron High Compression head on it had made a wonderful difference. :-)

Check the shaft length if you have a 2 piece shaft. Could also be spacers missing.
