$50,000 Victoria
There's a leatherback Victoria on eBay listed for $50K, Ford: Model A
272347970992 For that kind of money wouldn't you think the seller could pull it out of the garage & post some decent photos? |

Could be a situation like: "But honey, I had it up for sale and no one even made an offer"

Pretty rough looking car
Lots of issues - headlights, kick panels, radiator rough, etc. What else is hidden? $12,500 |

Doesn't look like a $50K car to me? Sealed Beam Headlight conversions etc, etc. At this price, he is going to own it for a long time. |

Re: $50,000 Victoria
Having the restoration of my 190A at 99%, I can understand a 190A listing for $50,000 or more. However, the owner of the car in the photo is fishing for an unknowing buyer with a lot of discretionary cash.
The sad thing is a buyer who overspends on a car that looks great but is far from being authentic, experiences the agony of the car not performing and or showing well.

The price seems inline with his other current auctions and his completed auctions.

Re: $50,000 Victoria
Put a high price on anything on eBay for long enough and some fool will come along and pay it! It's nuts!

Re: $50,000 Victoria
I have to think he is fishing too. There were several Model A's in the Owls Head Museum auction last weekend, and I bet you could have bought three open cars for that price. This one followed me home for $8800 - which includes the 10% buyers premium!

"Wow, Mark W. Looks like a good buy!"
To me, it's more of a "good-bye". Way too much wrong with it from just the included photos to even being a list. What DON'T we see? Marshall, Nov. 1930 softback Vicky |

Re: $50,000 Victoria
Yes, Bob is correct. I should have been more specific that my comment about a "good buy" being a "good-bye" to me was referring to the original post the eBay Vicky, not Mark C.'s terrific phaeton purchase. I was trying to make a bad play on words, but was unclear what I was referring to. My apologies for any confusion I caused.
Yes, Mark C.'s phaeton was one heck of a buy at $8800!!! Congratulations. My '28 phaeton cost a lot more than that and didn't look nearly as good! Marshall |

B]Looks like you made a great buy. Proof positive to the people that think Model A prices have skyrocketed that it is not so. Obviously the market is taking a nosedive when you buy for that price. Wayne[/B]

Re: $50,000 Victoria
This is probably someone brokering a car for an estate. Maybe the dead husband told the family it was worth that, to justify spending money on it while he had it..

Re: $50,000 Victoria
Vern, you asked where the Victoria was a few days ago. Here are photos of it in it's "hide out". You will recall the story. The wife did not want to pay extra for the painted wheels. She only got in the passenger seat and would never see his side. She got the black wheels and he got the apple green without her knowing, or finding out. Enjoy, Russ.

As for issues with mine - it needs paint - one side is much worse than the other, and it has an AA motor in it. I can live with those issues for a driver. One really nice thing was the spare parts - not only a full set of curtains under a hatch in the floor nobody knew was there, but at least a dozen condensers and points (old 1940's stock), plus a new coil, tools, front hub bearings, and spare radiator & gas cap. Here is the list of results for the Model A's: 032 1928 Ford A Phaeton $10,450.00 036 1931 Ford Phaeton 4D $24,200.00 037 1931 Ford Model A Wagon $19,250.00 038 1931 Ford A Roadster $19,800.00 042 1929 Ford A Roadster $17,600.00 045 1930 Ford A Sport Coupe $16,500.00 046 1930 Ford A Deluxe Coupe PASSED 047 1930 Ford A 2-Door Deluxe PASSED 048 1928 Ford A Phaeton $8,800.00 050 1929 Ford A 4-Door Sedan PASSED 043 1931 Ford Model A Mail Truck $27,500.00 Last edited by Mark W.; 08-26-2016 at 12:04 PM.
