Re: distributor question
When you say close to the top do you mean just below the distributor cam
or just below the bottom of the distributor body?? Bob |

Re: distributor question
Or do you mean at the bottom of the shaft-the end that goes into the engine?

Re: distributor question
I think you are missing the seat for the distributor cam. I just
rebuilt my distributor and it was missing, I don't know how it stayed in time. Bob |

Re: distributor question
This is the one piece shaft that came out of my distributor. Notice it has no machined flange, and there is a slot in the bottom. I replaced it with the two-piece upper shaft with the machined flange and the lower shaft with two slots..Btatton's # 17370 and #17530. There were a couple of washers/spacers there that the cam pressed against...
That collar is pinned but it just slides on...there is no coupling there....

Re: distributor question
I replaced the cam/oil pump drive gear with a slightly oversized one from Bert's....004" over, and replaced the single long distributor shaft with the two piece shaft...it really tightened up the distributor drive..there is very little play in the rotor now...
