Default "F" script bolts

Now with the Ford GPW jeep the "F" script is a big deal...

Would this '29 CCPU have come with "F" script bolts, or did someone just find these in their spare bolt bucket and use them? I only found the two...

You are right when you asked ". . . .did someone just find these in their spare bolt bucket and use them . . . .". For that is exactly what did happen.

. . . . the designer of these 'F' headed bolts, was Fred 'Fritz' Freeman, who was the chief head-bolt designer for the Chevrolet Motor Company. These 'F' headed bolts were used to assure the builder and buyer, that they did indeed have a genuine Chevrolet. Showing these bolts to a knowledgable Chevrolet fan will show that you are in touch with your 'Chevy' feelings. and that you have compassion and understanding for his plight.

. . . . . don't believe everything you hear . . . or read . . . .

I read it on the Ford Barn, so it must be true.

Stick those F bolts on ebay and list them under "WWII Ford Army Jeep" and you will probably get a good price for them.

There are a few guy's around here with GPW's...they can point to every "F" stamp or casting...it seems to me there are well over 100 visible if you know where to look..

I was curious if this was an early Ford thing or if it only happened with the GPW type vehicles..

It was a GPW thing, to differentiate Ford's parts from the identical Willys parts. Ford marked just about EVERYTHING on a GPW, right down to the tiniest part.
