Default 8ba in a 37 sedan delivery

I think I posted this engine awhile ago while I was building it. I just got around running it. It seems good to run a stock engine once in awhile, it's so smooth. I'm use to building these street engine with cam and carbs ect. Walt

What is the setup for running a fan on an 8BA in a 37? The stock setup won't allow you to move the generator forward and keep the stock fan. The 8BA generator is forward. What is done?

Ray may answer that question. He has ran this setup in his 37 delivery. If it was me I probably would use an electric fan. Walt

I have a friend that has an 8BA engine in a '37 1/2 ton.. Pretty straight forward deal.
Many years ago I did a couple of 8BA engine swaps into '36 and '37 Fords. The main issue to contend with is the 8BA water-pumps.. You have to have either truck or '49/50 Merc pumps that have the motor mount ears incorporated into the pumps. You also need the '49-50 Merc mount spacers as shown in the attached pix. The '49-50 Merc mount spacers have an off-set in the bolt pattern, plus they compensate for the shorter 8BA pumps. Using the exhaust manifolds that are correct for the vehicle also makes the swap easier..

The 8BA in my Panel is using a generator mounted Fan maybe from the original engine. , truck water pumps, and regular motor mounts. It fits perfect. If I knew how to post pictures I would. Ray

My memory is that the 37-39 trucks had a higher top tank and more space between the engine and the radiator than the 37-39 standard 85 horse sedans. There is limited room between the generator and the radiator in the stock 85 horse 37-39 sedans.

I guess if you used the very short fan from a 35-36 then the more forward 8BA generator would work with a fan on it. I am aware of the water pump, bell housing, and exhaust manifold needs, thanks though.
