Default Need this Tool Identified Please

Don P. and I visited several flea markets on Saturday and we picked up this tool, took the tool to car club meeting last night and no one could identify tool as to use, it only says "Made in USA" on inside of one handle. Let me know if you know of use, hope flathead.
.
Heavy set of pliers?
.

.
Don P. media blasted to clean up, in rust when he picked it up.

Has the look of a saw tooth setting tool. (?) Hard to see into throat.

Almost seems too wide for the number of teeth/inch on a hand saw. What would that sliding adjustment be for? DD

Might be a tooth setting tool for a antique circular sawmill blade.

I agree that it is for setting teeth on a circular saw ! I actually have a 39 flattie powered circular saw for cutting firewood to length. Flattie runs excellent !

I have no idea what that tool is that's painted flat black, but that other tool is definitely a garden hoe

Sorry, the devil made me do it

Looks to me like one of those attachments I have seen for garden hoes. Just drag it along your garden and it makes a furrow for seed planting. Plus it is adjustable since peas need to spaced wider than beet rows. John LOL

If you take a pic of it without background, like say laying on cardboard/etc, you could try google image search...I tried it with your pic, but I just bring up drawings and such of non-tool things, I suspect because of the background.

Looks to me like a device for setting the angle of a saw's teeth as others have said. The reason for the adjustable part is for various widths/angles possibly.

Google antique saw tooth setter under images, it yields a lot of images similar to yours.

The Hoe I recognize as my ex wife. The tool I would say is a saw tooth setter? My father in law and his father had a saw sharpening business in Ohio many, many years ago.

It looks like some sort of flattening or crimping tool. It has adjustable bottom anvil to crimp different thickness of a folded edge?? It's not for grabbing and pulling because of the way the hand gripe is located. G.M.

I think it's a castration tool. Don't let your wife get a hold of it!

42Merc has the right answer. It was once a rather common tool, essential if you sharpened your hand saw often.
I have a couple of them and have used them to "set" the teeth on hand saws. The anvil is adjustable so you can use it on a crosscut saw or a ripsaw, or even a back saw, which has very fine teeth.

Can it be modified to be used as a metal working tool? Shrinker, stretcher, die?

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!
