full flow filter
This is the second version of my full flow filter setup. the first used an oil filter and mount from a late model GM V6 engined car,but on cutting the filter open after using it for a couple of years, found it only had a very small element inside.
so back to the drawing board, this filter is a lot bigger and I feel better with using it rather than the other smaller one. Two days work in making the filter head and related tube work and fittings. Just need my boy to paint the engine and the new filter setup. Lawrie |

Re: full flow filter
Nice set up. You have plenty of room to work with on the dragster and that is a neat package. I highly recommend the Motorcraft FL1A filter. I learned years ago that they are superior to most.
I don't see how anyone using their flathead on a regular basis or in extreme conditions as you do can go without a full flowing filter system such as this. With the price of good oil these days, it will pay for itself in increased oil chage intervals. |

Re: full flow filter
Very nice install, but where is the out line on the filter?

I second that.

Re: full flow filter
The out line is the steel tube one going into the block, the inlet line is the horizontal fitting below the outlet line that has the plastic cap on,this line is fed from the bottom of the oil pump via the bulkhead fitting in the oil pan an hose, hence ALL the oil is filtered before going to the engine.

That might get in the way of my steering column. Kidding aside, nice job. |

Your solution for a full flow oiling system with a spin on filter is very interesting. Would you have a photo or diagram showing what's involved in setting up the pressure/inlet side of your system? As I'm looking at the outlet side of the filter and where it returns to the block it seems like it would be under pressure from the oil pump. Thanks. Les Williams |

Re: full flow filter
Neat idea. Can that be adapted to cars without firewall interference?

Re: full flow filter
Just wondering
Why make something that’s been for sale - readily available - and cheap for years? |

Re: full flow filter
I've learned that nothing that comes out of the US and needs to be shipped to AU is cheap.
The galley where the oil pump normally discharges into is usually blocked off at the top of the pump on these setups, Les.

Re: full flow filter
Here is a pic of the inside supply from the pump to my filter setup.
I used aeroquip teflon lined dash 10 hose so as not to restrict the flow, and cope with the oil temp, also all my fittings are dash 10 size. Lawrie |

Re: full flow filter
I know you can buy a remote filter housing, they are also available here,But, why would I spend the $$ when I have the lathe and milling machine in my shed, also the bought filter heads do not have a blocked filter bypass valve in them.
If I stop making stuff like this ,maybe I will go senile sooner.LOL Lawrie |
