"76-B" open cab top?
The 76-B open cab was not designed to be lowered like the 40-B roadster. Was the open cab top designed to be removed? It would require snaps around the bottom at the back to allow removal.
If it was not designed to be removed, then the hinged stanchions could not be used? |

It was designed to be removed in one piece, but not to fold .
Lebarron Bonney sells a top frame that folds for the 76-b Not original but maybe more convenient !!! Have a look at their online catalog John Cochran |

Re: "76-B" open cab top?
John,
So, did the 76-B top have some type of snaps attaching it to the back panel wood? To remove the top, the two knobs, spring retainers, and bolts would need to be removed - correct? This would allow the whole top to be taken off by loosing the wing nuts at the stanchions. |

Re: "76-B" open cab top?
I have a 76-B and the top can be removed by unsnapping the snaps on the back of cab and on the top of the windshield, loosening the wing nuts on the stanchions. Also you remove the nuts on the bows and the whole thing sits off in one piece.

Marco,
What about the 76-A? This question came up this week, here at work. Dudley |

Re: "76-B" open cab top?
Great information everyone. I have Ford archive photos showing the 76-A top connection to cab back. It looks like it is not removable. I don't have the same type of picture for the 76-B (thus the question).
I am documenting the cabs for an AA Fords site I am developing and wanted to get this information correct. So, the 76-A top is not removable and the 76-B is removable. Someone would have fun removing the 76-B top on an AA stake truck! And, even more fun replacing it. BTW - Yes, I did mean tabbed washer (not spring retainer). |

Thanks Neil,
Yes, I know about your new site...looking forward to it. That was the answer I gave the Gent when he asked the question, about the top and the fitting. Dudley |

Marco,
Do you have another picture of the 76-A showing a side view. I am looking for a high resolution picture for my aafords.com site |

Re: "76-B" open cab top?
Unfortunately I only took closeup pics. With that said, a black vehicle would be less than ideal for showing detail in photographs anyway.
