Default "Burma Shave" signs

I just noticed a new set of Burma Shave signs along the highway about 7 miles from my home. It believe one set is supposed to be put up in each of Iowa's 99 counties.

I zipped by in my modern car and was unable to read all the signs (to close together). I guess I will have to go by them in the "A" to be able to read them all.

Iowa has 99 counties? I guess I never gave any thought to how many counties states might have I think we have 6 in N.H.My grandfather took down dozens of Burma-Shave signs. They were just the right height to nail 4 together to make a box to set in the brook and raise minnows in.

There is a Burma Shave sign series on the highway on the way to IOLA WI. It is just as you enter Symco from the east. I will write down what it says next time I am that way and post it here.

When our familly drove to our Cousin's in Vestal ,New York from Westwood, Ma., we would see a number of Burma Shave signs on route 7 in New York.

Always a fun time that parents and children liked....not too much of that today !

Yep, every Friday was payday for dad, so every Friday night we would drive the 1954 Ford Country Squire, ( later the 1960 Valiant station wagon) to Palmyria, N.Y. for groceries. I'd ride along and spend my time at the dime store or at the hobby shop or town park. We always went past a set of Burma Shave signs, but I don't recall the rhym.

We also crossed over the old Erie canal. I wonder what that looks like now?
