"A" steering column question
Hey guys, I am building a hopped up '28 roadster with the banger. I bought the roadster pretty much bare bones, just frame, body and misc parts, it came with no steering column and I am in need of a steering column with box and all. I found a guy local to me that has a '31 steering column at a good price (for me that is) and was wondering if that column will work just fine with my roadster? Again, its a 1928 ford roadster with the original fuel tank, I put a drop axle and F1 brakes on it if that matters (stock frame, no channel or anything like that). Any help will be appreciated. Shaun

Re: "A" steering column question
it is actually a better steering box in that it is adjustable. Take advantage of it's being out of the car and go through it prior to installing: check the condition of the worm, bearings, sector gear, shaft and bushings. Consider installing an oil seal tube and a sector seal while you're at it. Adjusting instructions are in the Service Bulletins. If you want the 28 style steering wheel, you can find repro 28's with the keyed shaft typical of a 30 box.
