fordomatic starter
I did a post a while back on a mercomatic trans rebuild.I ended up getting it rebuilt so I could keep the car all stock but the shop lost my starter. I am having a vary hard time finding a starter is there any other starter that will work for the auto trans. I want to get my car back on the road. Thanks

Re: fordomatic starter
None other that I know of. Only used '51-'53 on Ford and Merc. auto transmissions.
Why did the shop that rebuilt the tranny even have the starter? Keep checking Ebay, they show up there from time to time. there is one there now but without the Bendix. http://www.ebay.com/itm/51-52-53-FORD-FLATHEAD-V8-W-AUTOMATIC-REBUILT-STARTER-W-WARRANTY-6V-/360924877322?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessorie s&hash=item5408cc920a&vxp=mtr

Re: fordomatic starter
I have a Ford-O-Matic starter out of a '51 Crestliner, it has all (or most) of the parts including the Bendix. I'll check it later today when I get to the garage. PM me if you want it. Vic
