Mod A engine oil system
What should the oil pressure be with drilled crank, filter, alum. Head, duel carb ??

Re: Mod A engine oil system
Your oil pressure will depend on how tight the system was built. Every little place the oil can escape, every bearing that isn't minimum and every oil diverted somewhere other than bearings will reduce your oil pressure. Where you place the pickup for your gauge will affect your perceived oil pressure also.
That being said, ideally maybe 35 or 40 psi when the oil is cold, 15 or 20psi when it's hot. When the weather is hot, you have been driving hard, stop and idle, probably almost none. Richard Anaheim CA |

Richard,
Is that for a stock Model A ? It seems high. My stock engine runs around 15 lbs at start but drops to maybe 5 at 45 MPH when hot. Marc |

Mark: He's got a drilled crank and probably full pressure system. Not a stock one.
