$$ core value of early V8 script coils
I have some '33-E'36, mid-late '36 round w/flat top, and '37-'41 nice used & NOS script coils that I would like to offer as cores that could be rewound for use on show cars or original drivers. I would like some opinions on value before I list them. Don't bother posting something like "it's up to the buyer & seller"...I would like some $$ numbers. You could post info here or send me a PM. Thanks for any help.

Re: $$ core value of early V8 script coils
You might try to search ebay "completed" listings to see what the coils TRULY bring.
Sadly, the late 36 type with the flat top are difficult to sell. Even NOS hardly bring more than $25 unless you find "that guy". Brown coils from 39 - 40 with Ford script, NOS, I get about $75 when I offer one. Used? Good luck getting $10. |

Re: $$ core value of early V8 script coils
Thanks Kube! Anyone else have an opinion on the core value of nice original script, non NOS, coils like mentioned in my original post? Personally, I don't believe NOS buys you much with these coils because the insulations used on the wire and other parts, plus the potting compounds used, if any, where greatly inferior to the insulating materials and potting compounds available today. Even if I had an NOS coil, I would send it to someone like Skip Haney to have it rewound. I guess an NOS coil could possibly be nicer looking on the outside if you are trying to do a high point restoration.

I agree also with Charlie+Kube, not worth much. The cheaper the better even nos script.Ive paid as little as $2 for them at swaps. Good only for rebuilding. NON script ones = $0. ken ct.

Cecil, my wife has labeled me as a class 5 hoarder (ask Henry, he knows). I don't throw anything away but I have been known to give some stuff to my friends
