Default "City of Hermosa Beach" 29 rpu

I'm working on a 29 roadster pickup A-V8. I was recently told the cab originally had "City of Hermosa Beach" and some sort of city seal painted on the doors. Unfortunately, the driver's side door was too far gone and a former owner replaced it. The passenger side door was painted over in flat black. I'm doubtful it could be gently removed to reveal the original design.

If anyone has a picture of this car in its original livery I would love to see it. As far back as I can trace the history is to the mid-west where it sat for a number of years. It's been in East Tennessee for the past few years. I've never been to Hermosa Beach, in fact can barely spell it, but considering its history I would consider duplicating the old signage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Get on the phone and see if the City of Hermosa Beach has a "Historical Society", a lot of cities do.

Hermosa beach, my home town... http://www.hermosabch.org

Small beach town in SoCAl ~1 sq. mile in size. They do have a historical Society tho it doesn't seem to have too much info.http://www.hermosabeachhistoricalsociety.org/#!

Check Ron Felsing on Flikr https://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_felsing he has many old (and new) photos of Hermosa Beach and the surrounding cities, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach.

That second picture is really cool. I think this is the only time I've seen a picture of the Goodyear blimp with antique cars.

Well Tom, if blimps interest you as related to old Fords, you ever seen this one (built by Goodyear, of course)? Picture was taken at the old Ford Airport in Dearborn. Click the link for more history and pictures of Henry's airport. DD

I'm probably not the only one, but I live right by Hermosa.

If you need me to help in any way, I'd be more than happy.

You might try to wet sand the flat black off the door to see what you get... at least to get the general shape and size of the logo. It won't take long to see if any original paint starts to show up.

Neat idea to replicate what was originally on there!

Try some citrus based graffiti remover. It does wonders on spray can paint.
