Default Best video for brakes, overhaul and adjustment

Here is the best YouTube video I have found on the brakes. The only thing I disagree with is the bias to the rear wheels. As stated before, I found a 25% reduction in stopping distance with the bias to the front wheels. This is a MUST WATCH video for everyone. It is an older video so the quality of reproduction parts that he complains about has mostly improved.

I learned most of everything I know about Model A's from Lloyd Kerr. Spent many a day at his shop.

Anyone else notice he didn't install the steel washer before the castle nut on the axle? @~28:45. Good way to make your day go bad...

Yeah, I saw that he did not install the washer. One mistake in an otherwise very good video.

I still have the VHS tape of this I bought back in the late 1980s. A very good tutorial.

True, and I agree, very informative video. But that one mistake can give someone that is not as versed in Model As as you some issues.

Back in the late 1960s, our club held what they called an unrestored meet to show off our projects. They had space for us kids to drive around so, Rick and I jumped at the chance. Dad towed my Sedan behind his truck on a tow bar. My oldest brother, Don sat in the car to watch for problems.

When we got about half way there, Don started waving his arms and screaming for us to stop. We pulled to the side of the road to see what the commotion was about. Don was checking out the left rear wheel. It was so far off the axle, Dad thought the car was held up with only three wheels.

Once we started to jack, the wheel immediately fell over, hubcap down. Don removed the wheel off the hub and there was a castle nut and a tapered roller bearing. Rick, being mechanically inclined, said where is the washer?

I did have a lot of fun once getting to the meet, only people were pointing at my car, say things like, yes, the back left one! I kept looking to see if it was still there.

I really enjoyed the video! It was very informative and thorough. Rick watched it with me and also thought it was very well done. Part way through, I heard, oops, he didn't put on the washer, do you think we should call Don to flag him down?

Here is a video he did on the Zenith carburetor, which is also very good. I like the humor thrown in on top of the technical stuff.

Yes how to stop in a dime video is a superb video resource for a comprehensive brake rebuild .
It takes much more than most folks realize and the cost of a brake rebuild is as costly and significant as rebuilding and engine.
