Default A-10000-D Generator

I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about the Police Generator, A-10000-D.

The May 1931 Service Bulletins describe a generator designed for charging vehicles that operate at low speeds, specifically a police car equipped with radio equipment.

I can't find the part in my Parts Price List. Has anyone ever found one of these? Are they distinguishable from a normal generator from the outside or is it just the internals that are different?

Thanks
-Tim

I've wondered the same thing. I have come across a generator that looks the same except for the pulley. It's only 2 7/16" instead of 3 5/8". I found it last year at a swap meet, and it's the only one I've seen like it.

HA! Tom, I almost shot you an email before posting this because I figured "Tom will know!"

The mystery continues.

It's a larger generator, in the 28-37 book it lists the same field coils as the bus generator and the "standrive" the armature is listed as 9.36" long( 31 rear bushing style std gen 7,66 long), ball bearings at both ends, it is "autolite" and may have a data plate with autolite#, I have been looking for this style also at fleamarkets and sometimes I scan E-bay
it is listed as having a 2.69 dia pulley and it seems to have the same tapered mounting hub
Somewhere I have a bad picture from online

it is similar to this-- http://www.ebay.com/itm/chrysler-132...b58cbd&vxp=mtr ---only with mounting and pulley like standard gen

I am pretty sure it is 30 amp --no less than 25

Additionally, it had a different cutout and required a different lower water pipe and cast inlet at the block due to a change in the angles.

So would the amp meter in the dash have been any different?

Marco; Now that I go back and look at the service bulletin I see that they do list a different water pipe and inlet. The cutout isn't labeled in the diagram though.

Ed; The service bulletin gives detailed instructions for calibrating the generator but doesn't say anything about the amp meter.

Since this thread will out live the ebay listing I post the pictures below;
