Default My Model A Day 2013

Figured I'd post a few pictures from my impromptu trip this past Saturday.

Left the southside of Chicago around 10am and picked up Route 30/The Lincoln Highway and drove west. Intention was to get to LeClaire, Iowa and the store for Antique Archaeology (aka, American Pickers). The weather was absolutely perfect.

I mainly drove, didn't stop except for gas.

This was the first time I drove my truck across the Mississippi.

It promptly started to rain, hard.

But I made it.

(you can see the new building they are putting up)

Only Model A thing I saw was a basket full of tilly cores.

Didn't spend much time there, enough to look around, buy a t-shirt and shot glass, turned around and headed home.

I got some great video with my GoPro (middle of the windshield), will edit it at some point and post it.

353 miles round trip, a nice little trip. Somewhere in the middle of Illinois I rolled 7,000 on my odometer. Sadly, didn't see any other Model A's and the truck is filthy, but I drove it and had a blast, isn't that the whole point of these things?

Tim---That sounded like a nice, fun trip, and best of all, you got some quality time in your A.....way to go! Sounds like the truck must have run real well for you...any idea what kind of mileage you got, and what speed did you cruise at?

Drove two days in pouring rain on the Blue Ridge tour in May. Nice to know the old girl is waterproof. Thank heavens for rain-X though, that wiper is next to useless.
