Wall of cars
I wish the picture could have turned out a bit better, but the photo resolution is just too low.
It is a bit hard to work in my home office when I can turn around and be distracted. I have a big pile of '23 model T in the trailer but fear I would have to live to 120 to finish my projects. My Merc is in restoration however Pictured is: my '15 Model T '27 Model T '29 Model A '33 fordor '40 stakebed '47 coupe '51 Merc '53 Lincoln |

Re: Wall of cars
A nice collection. You need to add a 39 to that list.

Re: Wall of cars
Here is your "Wall of Fame" enlarged. You certainly have lots of great cars pictured on the wall. |

Re: Wall of cars
It has taken almost 50 years to restore what you see there. I was a boy working with my dad when we started the '27 T (my father's birth year).
I was hardly present for the '29 model A as I was in college. My siblings and I worked with my father through the years and toward the end of his life he would read and study and I would go to the garage, work and take pictures as he would "boss". Some of the cars would have been written off as unsalvageable to most people. The '40 stakebed was used in the oil fields through the war, had been wrecked several times, and the top was crushed from drill stem pipes but was rolled out and was all original metal when done. For him (and for me now too), it is "the chase" more that the car that is fun. In fact he gave the stakebed to his brother and it is now driving around Florida. He didn't live long enough to see the '53 Lincoln running. And with all the hassle it has been, there have been many days I have been tempted to park it somewhere with the keys in it. The '51 Mercury is my project since he passed away. It was given to me by a childhood friend of his (and the mother of a girl I dated in the '70s). There are no words, nor is there a dollar amount, that can capture the joy of working side by side with him through the decades bringing these back from the dead. But there is no bringing him back. |

Re: Wall of cars
Great picture wall. One to be proud of. It represents a lot of great memories with your dad. Thanks for sharing.
Speaking of picture walls, here's mine. Thirty-five grandchildren with another on its way. Only spent 16 years working on them.

Re: Wall of cars
There is no way i can compete with that. I may have helped restore 8 cars but I only have 4 grandkids.

Re: Wall of cars
Thanks. But, it's not a contest. We both are sharing evidence of fun with family, yours with an impressive 8 cars and 4 grandkids and me with just one measly car and 35 grandkids. All the same fun.
"Good time had by all."

Hey, all! For some real nice close-ups of old51fordman's cars go to his album on his public profile here: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/album....ictureid=37372

Re: Wall of cars
Start a thread about that Merc that I saw in your pictures. From barn to spray bay, looked like it cleaned up well!
