Default What trick wiper for 1931 model a cabriolet 68-c (convertible)

I have a 1931 Ford model a cabriolet 68-c. It has a trick vacuum wiper but it doesn’t seem to have any model embossed on it. The vacuum intake is on the right as well as the on/off switch. I bought a “universal kit” to rebuild it, however, is isn’t made for this model. I wish to know the model and if it is standard to that year a make model a?
I will try to include a pic of at least one that looks similar
Spelling check came up trick rather than trico.
Thank you in advance

Looks like you have the wrong Trico wiper for the 68C
That looks like a Chevrolet as it has the linkage on the wrong side .
Look at picture I posted.

That appears the same? No? At least the chrome one on right. It is for the driver’s side so I thought that was at least right side for the intake of vacuum hose. If not, do you know the right “model” trico motor should be on it?

Yours is some after market vacuum replacement wiper. While I guess it works, it is no where close to the factory type wiper motor.

The originals would all have screws holding the valve cover to the body. In the JS you will see the top has a specific look too.

The wipers are pot metal and if you find an original you likely do not want to pay any real money for it unless you can inspect inside. As soon as you see any pitting or corrosion the wiper is or will be trash. Plating pot metal does not usually go well unless the pot metal is perfect. The plater will not likely touch unless it is perfect. So finding a working correct wiper is not going to be cheap.

There are guys that are selling somewhat correct looking later replacement wipers. These will not have the correct markings on the top plate. Often they will put screws on the valve cover to make them not stand out too much.

It is likely you can just take your wiper apart. Clean it and use a super light oil inside. If there are any pits in the chamber the wiper is done as pot metal just keeps on oxidizing once it starts.

So you have to figure out you goals and your pocket book. There are solutions that are cheap like fixing the really wrong one you have. You can buy a later production slant window replacement that is not chrome plated. You can find one that is close to show correct that is chrome plated (expensive). You can find a show correct wiper that works and is plated properly (very expensive and difficult to find).

Knowledge is key at this point. The Judging Standards and Restoration handbook is a good place to start.

Joop, the Judging Standards are copyrighted material. People need to purchase them from the respective clubs or on the secondary market. Posting the material diminishes the countless hours of volunteer effort by many people for the benefit of MARC/MAFCA as well as income to the clubs.
