Default 1939 wooden floor boards

What thickness should be used for the wooden floor boards in a 1939 Ford?

Have you measured the depth of the depression up to the surface of the floor they fit in?

I got the drawings for the floor boards for my 1937 car from the Benson Ford Research Center and they show the thickness as 5/8”. I used 3/4” marine plywood and planed it down to the 5/8” dimension.

I used what was closest to 5/8 from home depot (19/32nds ???) for my 39 mercury (If memory serves me right). IT was still a little too thick for the floor screws and washers I got form Michael at Third Gen, I had to really push down hard to get them to thread and they are barely threaded in even counter sinking the holes ONCE you use the rubber floor gasket!!!

AND for you Mercury guys, I had to use two 39 Ford Seal kits to make the one for the Mercury via cut and paste and rubber cement!!!
