Where does the short starter bolt go into the bell housing?

Re: Short starter bolt
Make sure they are all the same length and cannot contact the flywheel when the starter is mounted.

Re: Short starter bolt
When I removed the starter I did not notice one bolt was shorter than the other 2. Contact with flywheel IS my concern. I guess it will not hurt to cut off the longer ones to be safe.

Re: Short starter bolt
Starter mounting bolts are 3/8-16 x 1 and should be grade 5. Here's the page from Bratton's that shows them:
http://www.brattons.com/prodtype.asp...ageHistory=cat Unless you want authentic bolts for a show car, you can get them from your local hardware store. Don't forget the lock washers. Mike in Oregun Last edited by 29er; 09-05-2014 at 10:56 PM. |
