Default Opinions wanted ?? Distributor cap??

Could be the most dangerous post i ever done but her goes .
After shipping over 1700 of our late conversion distributors with mechanical advance. ( and being behind a dozen orders or so right now)

The number one complaint from customers is the use of a delco black distributor cap with a window for adjustment.

Well after a few customers pleading their case , there is another option. What about this MSD cap ? Only available in Red with male terminals but what do ya think.......

All I can say at this point is that I just finished painting a red Mallory cap black! I personally don't like the red at all!

If it was going to be installed on a speed equipped engine (carbs, finned heads etc.) to me the red cap would be quite suitable.

No need to paint the Mallory cap black. I replaced my red cap with a black (pn MA-2) cap from NAPA.

Personally, if I was to go to the Chevy distributor, the red is no problem. What I do really like is the male cap posts. I have never been 100% comfortable with the female caps. Seems like your never really sure the wires are fully in the cap.

As you know, I drive a non-stock. Red is my favorite color so go with it. Who would snoop under my hood ? Might scare rodents away.

The problem is, I already have 3 red caps and a spray can of gloss black plastic paint. Good information to know, though.

It would work for me. The adjusting window on the Chevy cap gets very close to my fan belt on My AV8. So close I have sanded it the edges down.

Caps are supposed to be black along with the wires; nothing more distracting than red, blue, or yellow (the worst) wires.

Not sure I agree. I love the look of different colored cloth wires on a dizzy. Maybe I'm a purist, but I don't like the look of rubber plug wires. Looks too modern to me...

MSD also has a windowless Chevy style cap that uses the same push in wire connectors that the Chevy cap with the adjustment window has. No need to change or alter the spark plug wires. Jim - would the Chevy rotor work with this one? Sure looks like it would.

That cap has a window just like the others , its just painted black.......regular chevrolet... May be a little better looking than the metal window , this one is plastic...

HI Jim. I have close to 40,000 miles on one of your all chev. dis. For my 49 I have never had to use the window for adjustment so far, so I'm more then pleased the way it is. While I"m here do you do 318 dodge dis. I think they look like the 49 dis. ?? Jack.

We have done a couple of the 318 chryslers for the flathead. They are smaller and look the part very well. The cores are a little hard to get but i have been looking at the,
