Default carb linkage

Im using the stock long carb linkage, where the ends pull out to slip the ball in.
when I put the stock double return carb springs on, it was way hard, and pulled hard at the long linkage ends, so I put just one spring on it, the carbs snap back ok, but it still pulls at both the linkage ends when pushing the gas peddle, not to bad, but still does.
so my question is, when you mash the gas peddle, is it suppose to pull at the long linkage ends ?
Is there a chance it will pull it apart ?
thanks..

Elwood, Start at the firewall mount linkage. remove it and service it and its spring. get it working freely, and the rest will be easier. Your dual carb setup is not stock, of course, so you must expect a certain amount of improvisation will be required.
