Default I need help IDing a Ford 302

Hi everyone I just aquired a late 80s early 90s FI 302 roller motor out of wrecked Linclon. The motor was running so I grabbed it and will put it in the corner of my shop until I have a use for it. Someday I would like to build a blown small block Windsor type motor. My question is were the Lincoln motors essentailly the same as the Mustang GT and LX shortblocks and cylinder heads from that era? Also where on SBF are the casting numbers and where is a good place to find out what the casting numbers mean?
Thanx
Ghost

Your Lincolm 302 is lke the the 302's found in the same year Crown Vic and Grand Marquis and not the Mustang. The casting number for the block is on the lower right rear corner of the block, between the starter and pan rail. Look between the starter and the pan to see it.

That 302 has different cam, firing order, intake manifold, heads and the EFI is speed density. Not a bad thing, just not close to an HO Mustang. I put one of those in a 66 Falcon Ranchero with a 5-speed behind it, 3:23 gears and it ran great! Honest 30 MPG @ 65, not going to set the world on fire but it was fast enough up through the gears.

Thanx guys I know it's not the same as a as an HO motor. Actually I am more interested in the lower end as a good base for a street performance build. The heads and rest of the upper end will go to the dump I was just interested in using the block and crank and rods. I am told that I should really try and find a Mexican block.
