Default How to hook up mechanical gauges in my 53 f100

Hello Men,

It is time to hook up an oil pressure and water temperature gauge in my 53 f100. It has the 8rt flathead. I have never hooked up gauges like this. Can someone direct me on how to do this. My stock gauges seem to work fine but I have no idea on their accuracy.

You will need to remove the sending unit for the oil pressure and plumb in a copper or plastic line from it to the gauge. Sending unit is at the drivers side back of the engine.
Heads are a different matter as your gauge reads the temp for both heads I believe. I suppose that you could hook up two mechanical gauges. One for each head.
As far as temp gauge accuracy I would invest in a hand held laser thermometer. Point and pull the trigger and you get a reading. Might help you figure out if the gauge is correct. If not broke. Don't fix.
Also if you scroll down you will see a post titled "What's up with my oil pressure' Show an install on an oil gauge.
Torchie.

should be 2 ports at back of engine where oil pressure sender is or where the oil line to the oil filter is...can use other port for mechanical gauge and keep the electrical sender/gauge also...will need two gauges for both heads....or toggle switch to read from one head to another, etc...good luck....Mike
