Default Narragansett reproductions

If it weren't Sunday, I'd simply try calling these folks, but as it is, does anyone know if Narragansett Reproductions is still in business? I know their founder, Ed Pease passed several years ago. I purchased a complete wiring harness for my '39 Merc about 5 years ago, and it (wiring harness) was a work of art. I am now in the market for a harness for my '51 Tudor and I think of them. Isn't there another old ford shop that does harnesses in house? Any comments most welcome!

Tyree Harris does a great job on several harnesses he has done for me. I believe he is in SC but not sure. Nice guy, good product,/ fast turn around.

Narragansett Reproductions is very much still in business. Google can be very useful for such questions. Rhode Island Wiring is also an excellent source. To each his own, but Tyree Harris's wiring is at the bottom of my list.

Thanks for the responses fellas. DavidG, yes I'm aware of Google, used it to go to Narragansett website, where it stated to call for prices as catalogs were being updated, and went to their facebook page where there was nothing real positive, so I put the question out here. Good to learn they're very much still in business.

My experience with Narragansett is with their Lincoln parts. I use Rhode Island Wiring for their reproductions when I've run out of NOS wiring for a particular application.

I had a genuine issue with Rhode Island. A young man took my order. I used a credit card with my order that had been unused for very long time. For months my wife thought I was buying some odd items on that card. I was finally asked what was up. Working back I called Rhode Island ad got a mature woman. I asked the right questions and the woman declared forcefully that she was the only one to see credit card information. With the strong denial I smelled a family issue and knew there would be no satisfaction from Rhode Island or the bank for that matter. Banks seem to ignore such complaints. Caviat... :Fred A

I don't know about that. My credit card bank notices stuff right away and they pull the card & issue another one. They really check the out of state stuff. It may be computer algorithms that raise the red flags but I know it works for me.

Rhode Island Wire and Narraganset Reproductions are separate companies but the owners are brothers.

Another source for high quality original as well as with mods such as turn signals is YnZ's Yesterdays Parts.

You must be dealing with the wrong bank. When ever I had a problem with a charge, the bank behind my card always went to bat for me by reversing the charge and doing an investigation. I always check my charges each month to make sure nothing is amiss.

I agree with rotorwrench and paul2748 as banks normally alert you to unusual activity on your card account and immediately put a hold on any charges that I do not recognize on their monthly printed statement or the real time statement on their website which I look at regularly. They then launch an investigation, issue me a new card with a different number. Not once have I had their investigations find for the culprit. Your wording suggests that in your case the time limit for claims the banks will accept had passed.

Banks DO watch CREDIT cards closely, DEBIT cards not so much. During this Pandemic I ordered takeout from a Thai restaurant to pick up using a debit card. I look at my card accounts every day. The next day there were over $1000 worth of airline tickets purchased at the Salt Lake City airport. (I live in the state of Washington) The charges were still pending, so I called the bank and told them they were bogus and not to honor the purchase. They said they would have to do an investigation. Months later they refunded me 1/3 of the amount, told me if I had used the credit card it would have all been taken care of. So I found out if you have a debit card, buried in the fine print is how they treat unauthorized purchases. Not a tiny bank CHASE.

I have a Narragansett wire harness. It seems to be high quality, and I've been pleased with my choice. There were issues with the order, however. In the end though, everything was resolved to my satisfaction. It just took a long time and some back and forth phone calls. I thought they were out of business, but I'm pleased to hear that is apparently not true.

The events with Rhode Island were less than eight years ago when I was buying other cars and was fixing my ''47 coupe for funds. The purchases were E-books, subscriptions to online music, and rock music online sites. Amounts were modest but took a while to notice on my statement. I think to expect the banks to check on unusual purchases is a bit of wishful thinking from my experience where inquiries usually were programmed red flags like large alcohol or airplane tickets. Since then, I've changed vendors. Good Luck: Fred A

I never use my debit card for purchases from businesses that I don't know. Included in these are any purchases I buy over the internet or over the phone.

There are less safeguards in place with a debit card vs a credit card. Remember - a debit card give some one direct access to your bank account, assuming the bank does not suspect anything amiss.
