Default 1941-1948 Ford convertible top instructions

Is there any instructions by Ford for the correct way to put the top down. I have seen people lower the top with out dropping the rear window.I thought that it should be unzipped and lowered first. Thanks Dave Collette

Dave, I also unzip the rear window panel before lowering the top. I've always felt there would be less pull and strain on the top fabric and mechanism, just my opinion. LouB.

If you have an owner's manual, it may have directions.
