Is there a fix? Starter switch
My new coupe , 1930, has a repop "pop out switch" that is shorted. It's a battery Drainer and I was wondering what can be done other than sticking a toothpick in it to hold the key cylinder away from the lock. What's the fixit? Or just junk it and put a new one in?

Re: Is there a fix? Starter switch
install the nurex fake pop out available from all the suppliers...
they are excellent quality and even fool the judges. or just get a good original but stay away from those cheaper on and off switches watch your replacement swith does not short on the gas tank Last edited by Mitch//pa; 08-15-2015 at 11:37 AM. |

Re: Is there a fix? Starter switch
Hi Terry,
One (1) reoccurring experience to share: Sometimes a few Model A parts suppliers have found alternate manufacturers of far better quality Model A parts, such as that of Mr. Walt Bratton who searched and found far better Model A tire inner tubes and headlight sockets. It took years to silence the Model A Forums' heresy that "all" new tubes and headlight sockets were garbage. Like in the past, some never hear about Model A parts upgrades until one calls someone like Mr. Bratton or their favorite Model A parts supplier. The assumed answer is always "NO" until someone calls for the owner in lieu of just a newly hired front desk parts clerk. Hope this helps. |

'what can be done'. Until you arrange to get your 'pop out switch' restored/replaced, you can install one of those modern style switches that suppliers sell. And/or a cut out switch...to stop ALL elect flow, when not running. |

Cutout switches are great, but all shorts need to be repaired.

Re: Is there a fix? Starter switch
Thanks everyone! I'm definately going to look into the Nurex part! BTW, I didn't put the switch in so no jokes about how cheap i am! For all I know, it is a Nurex in there now.
