Swanwaco32, that usually means the disk has the wrong face toward the flywheel.

Nope The springs set in more than the original disc. It came from Ft Wayne Clutch.

Has the flywheel been faced so many times (or lightened) it is bringing the clutch disk springs into the flywheel bolts? Next time you have the clutch apart, hold the disk up with your hand and see if there is any interference with the bolts and spins free, just for laughs, turn it around and see if there is any difference.

Re: 10” clutch issues are driving me nuts!!!! Help!
Length of clutch fingers always depends on the circle diameter of the throw out bearing. Longer ones will hit the shaft and ones that are too short may not make contact with the throw out at all. They should center with the pressure point on the throw out bearing thrust face. If they do then that's not the problem.
There are several 10-inch clutch disks that were in use back in the flathead era. The Long type is what you should have. The Borg & Beck is a bit different and I don't think they are interchangeable. Also, the disk hub can be installed correctly facing one direction. If it gets flipped the wrong way, there will be a problem. I'm a firm believer in getting the old originals rebuilt by a good clutch shop like Ft Wayne Clutch. They have replacement parts that work, they adjust them by the book, and they function check them during the process. I've not had a problem with their stuff yet. Turn around is quick too. I've heard of problems with the new reproduction stuff. If they aren't built exactly like the originals then it's a big ?????????? whether they will work correctly. |

If you welded a nut 3/8 by 3/8 to finger and looked at it from side view. If they made a new Extrusion with different profile this could be fixed. They would all have to be fixed at factory |
