Re: flathead jack
Here is the link: http://jaxvintagevalvecomponents.com/
Looks like he is only selling lifters, guides and springs. I didn't see any prices listed. |

Many people have been using lifters in flathead race engines that weigh LESS THAN HALF that of his. He needs to add the word "adjustable" to the description. The ad was probably written by an ad copy guy that had no clue what he was writing about. |

Re: flathead jack
Received a ad/letter from him today saying that he had "kinda" retired and relocated to Red Bluff, CA and was just dealing in "high end" lifters, etc. Chap

Re: flathead jack
The lifters look like the ones Mike Davidson used to sell from down in Australia.

Re: flathead jack
From what I know about "Flathead Jack", that is a certainty. In just about any business endeavor, there are certain individuals that will pay exorbitant prices for a variety of reasons. I believe "Flathead Jack" was an astute businessman who recognized this and took advantage of it. Good for him (I guess).

Re: flathead jack
If a product is bad, or a supplier is not reliable for some reason, I think it's good to let guys know about it. But why should a supplier get badmouthed all over the place for pricing on the high side? Some sellers have identified their target markets and don't want to deal with coupon clippers.

Re: flathead jack
Who's bad-mouthing? If someone said he was selling crap, I could see you point, but nobody did that. As a matter of fact, "Flathead Jack's" prices have been a source on wonderment and amusement for a long time. I don't think there is a problem with publicizing that. And, as I said on a previous post, there are a bunch of people out there that want to pay more for something than it is worth. Somebody has to give them the opportunity.
