I have a 1936 Fordor humpback. It's running rough and the fuel is intermittent as well as the clear in-line fuel filters keep getting filled with rusty junk. This leads me to believe that the cars fuel tank (which I know sat for at least 7 years) has a rusty tank. So I have read about the difficulty involved in removing the tank. Would you recommend that I leave the tank in place and flush the tank with either vinegar and baking soda or a small amount of fuel mixed 50/50 with Seafoam? The other option is to remove it and clean it our in the same manner.

IMO: Remove the tank and have it cleaned and sealed by a professional

Not hard to remove and replace
Mine was yucky when I got it. I got a tank kit from KBS coatings and did it myself as there wasn't anywhere near me to hot tank it and do the job as Terry,OH above mentions. If like me there are many other projects ahead on this car ($$$) you may want to consider what you do yourself and what you farm out.
BTW my tank is still serving me well, 10 years on.
