Default Spark plugs for 1932 V8 motor.

What would be the correct Champion or other makes, modern equivalent spark plugs for the 1932- V8 motor.
Are the Champion C-16C spark plugs for the Model A engines.

Hi Ian, I guess you are after 18mm plugs that were original to 1933 - 37 fords. I use champion D16 in my 34 as a standard range plug or D21 for a hotter plug which may work better with some of the crappy fuels we have today which may help if your plugs are running a little sooty looking. NGK 18 mm A-6 have also worked well in my 34s. Repco in NZ would have these plugs or be able to order them in for you. Original 1932 Fords had cast iron heads which took 7/8" x 18 spark plugs not 18mm. Some people have trouble with champions but they run fine in my 34 Ford. Regards, Kevin.

Ian, C-16c is an old obsolete part number for model A & B ford. The newer number is W-16Y. A hotter plug may be better today as in a W-18 or a W-20. I have used a W-20 in a 4cyl model B with good results so it might be good in a model 18 V8 as well. Regards, Kevin.

Kevin's recommendation is for 7/8" threaded plugs.

Ian D16's are readily available from REPCO - I use them in my 1910 Hupmobile .
D21's are better for the Hupp but not as easy to source -Karl

C-4 was a later recommended plug for the '32, my hupmobile uses them.
