Wink FBI - J. Edgar Hoover film.

If you have a mind to, check out the new Eastwood film on J. Edgar Hoover. Movie was OK - BUT loaded with Model T's and A's. Of personal interest was Mr. Hoover being driven around in a sweet '31 S/W Sedan. The sound effects are the real McCoy Ford going through the gears................

Very nice indeed!

HBO re ran the Pacific series last week and their were a number of great looking A's as well. I liked that SW sedan too.

Is this one of the movies where they destroy perfectly good automobiles needlessly for visual effects? I think I saw a preview where they shot holes in one. Its sad what stupid things movie makers will do just because they have the money to do it.

No the car that you saw was not a real origional Model A, it was a mock up car so not to worry.... Clint Eastwood is also a collector and owner of a 32 Model B V8 flathead origional sedan that he actually drives every now and then....... at least that is what he told me ?

Chuck -

What a beauty! I loved the car and thanks for providing it for this film. As a former '31 SW owner, I guess you never get over them. I bought mine as a pile of parts in high school - 1969, assembled it, drove it as my daily driver, and even took it with me to Yellowstone National Park, Wy. when I worked there.

As we already had a "lifelong" family member - Annie my Dad's '30 Deluxe Coupe, we decided to fully restore the Coupe so I sold the sedan. I still miss the lack of sunvisor when we hit the roads in Annie. Enjoy your ride!

Thanks, SHEC

This is a real comfortable car and a pleasure to drive. My motor was in real poor condition on top of that it was a 29 unit. I am having Ora Landis or Schwalms completely balance and build a 31 motor should be done in mid december, also picked up a real NOS 80 year old transmission and bellhousing with both brake and clutch pedals after then car is back together my plans are this coming summer to take a road trip to Canada to break in the new drive train so she will get a work out. If anyone out there wants to tag along let me know it should be a trip of a lifetime ?

SHEC,
sorry, I didn't mean to barge in on you by posting my thread. I looked for a thread on this before I posted it, but did not see yours. I guess I should have hit re load and maybe then I would have found yours.

anyhoo, indeed, the car scenes are good. And who would have guessed we would see J Edgar in drag?

Let us know when and where you will be in Canada, and we'll see what we can set up as a meeting... Jim

PAT IN SANTA CRUZ - No problem, we both love the ole' Fords and that is all that matters. It was great that we prompted Chuck to share that it is his car as the "star" of the movie. Gotta love the clean straight looks of that sedan.

BTW - We are headed down your way this weekend (Monterey area: - Grennfield), this weekend so I am not that far from you folks.

Be well -

Thanks to all -

Chuck M.

How did you get your car in the movie ? Was there a general call for old cars posted in the newspaper ?

Looking forward to seeing this film, mostly for the cars and because it's directed by Eastwood

Glad to read this. I am happy that a responsible person was in charge. I always liked Eastwood's work. I boycott the destructive movies so I just might have to check this one out.
