Find someone still selling Packard 440s. Hard core (solid core, too) old days sparking-plug wires for racers and the street alike. DD

Is it a points or HEI dizzy. If it's a HEI, I don't think solid core wires should be used.

I also like the Packard 440. I picked up a large roll @ a swap meet and have used it to make new spark plug wire sets for my cars. I reuse the original brass ends from old '35-'36 wire sets and solder those ends to the Packard 440 wire. I don't care about originality, or radio interference, all I care about is getting a good hot spark at the plugs.

Edit: Also, I am using a stock '35 dual point distributor, with a Skip Haney rewound coil mounted on top. I set this up on my avatar 35 fordor sedan about 3-1/2 years ago, and have driven over 25k miles since then. Still running like the wind. These helmet distributors will run a good long time IF they are setup correctly and good quality components are used. I don't want or need any electronic ignitions on this old girl

There are warnings against using plain wire core wires on Pertronix and Mallory electronic distributors. They recommend the coil type wire to choke down the current flow. There are several reports of Pertronix early failures caused by using solid wire.

Another issue is susceptibility to moisture intrusion. I started with the MOROSO OE64011 universal cable set from Speedway. Left the car outside on a rainy night, and the next day the car would not start, until the wires dried out. Switched to the more expensive PerTronix Flame-Thrower 7mm Stock Look Spark Plug Wire Sets 708190 from Summit, and no further problems with starting on wet days.
