Default Bad starter switch? Dead short in starter?

Just returned from a 370 mile weekend trip without skipping a beat in our '30 Cpe. Parked, unloaded car, went to move it into "her" garage - no go. Solid battery. Good connects. Hit the starter rod zip, zero - nada. Try the lights - with the solid battery charge the headlights drop out about 90 percent - barely lit. Bendix is not hung up?????

Time to try a switch pull first? Any input - I would be grateful.

PS - I disconnect the battery every time I park it - totally disconnect it.

Thanks - SHEC

Sounds like a short somewhere other than the starter. I hope you run a fuse. If not, disconect the battery ASAP.

Gents - turned out to be a weak cell in the battery!

Driving down the Ford Road again!

Buy two batteries and a good Float charger. Float the car battery when it is parked, switch the cables to the spare (sitting off of the concrete floor) when the old girl is out for a ride.

Makes for an easy jump start if the Floater misbehaves, and you have double electrical security. As Justin Wilson, the famous Cajun chef was fond of remarking that as a Safety Engineer he liked suspender AND a belt.

It is also nice if a fellow 6 volt car needs a jump or a replacement during a tour/show. 6 Volts are not really that expensive (except Optima), but they are often hard to find on a weekend with a show in town and Easter weekend when O'Reillys closes early!
