Default pot metal repair

on my 51 crestliner i have a rocket ship hood ornement the bottom piece
has 2 threaded holes that the bolts come up from under the hood 1 of threaded part broke off but if I take it off again I afraid it will brake more
I need a special place to send it & the chrome is bubbling up is there 1
place to fix the pot metal & rechrome the ornament base
thank you for any help on this

In your earlier thread, you said that "still not sure I have a different hood ornament
it looks like a rocket ship" (referring to the three pictures in the previous post). If you are saying what I think you are, you probably have an aftermarket hood ornament. Unless you have something else in mind, I'd think twice about restoring an unauthorized accessory hood ornament.

Never had this occasion but would think it would be better to find an original and rechrome if necessary. Would save a lot of fussing and concern.

There are several stock '51 Ford hood ornaments that appear to be unpitted on eBay right now, all priced less than $100. Fixing pits in pot metal prior to plating is quite expensive.The plastic "fin" is also available from several sources.

If this is what you are talking about you may be better off trying to find one that is not broken but may need new chrome.
As stated, there are a several being offered on Ebay.

The cost of repair will far exceed the cost of a new or used one.
