Default 1940 Ford Radio settings

How are the five preselect stations set. Is that selector button that rotates the dial suppose to pop out after each push or be manually pulled out? With each selection, does the frequency dial move to a different position? Carl

It should pop back out. Prob needs some lube on it. To set the pre sets remove the chrome strip across the face plate by prying it up from each end. The remove the two screws holding the faceplate and remove. You'll see five holes across the front . Rotate the preset button to the number one position the with a small screwdriver tune the number one tuning screw until a station comes in. Then rotate wheel to number two. Repeat process through number five.
