37 21 stud motor
How much would you pay for a good running 37 motor?

Re: 37 21 stud motor
Never bought a 37 but I did buy a 34 in useable condition a while back { heads had been changed to cast } for $1,000 . Bought a 33 minus heads and intake that was useable for $500. Not exactly what you're asking but I would think a useable 37 would be comparable . They're actually much better motors than 33-34's David J QUOTE=Brendan;198040]How much would you pay for a good running 37 motor?[/QUOTE]

Is the motor in a car so it can be driven? Put a good load on it, no smoke, no noise, no leakes. Buy it. I'd say it should be worth at least 500 dollars, remember they don't make them any more.

Re: 37 21 stud motor
A friend of mine bought a fresh "rebuit" 37 last year without running it for $1000.00, It turned out to be a nice boat anchor. He found a nice block for $250. after having it checked for cracks. Took the innards out of the "rebuilt" to use in the good block. Has put about 1800 in the good block in parts alone and still has to pay the machine shop yet. Moral of the story, do your homework.

Re: 37 21 stud motor
Are there any cracks that might be repairable and/or acceptable?
My buddy says that with flatheads, "The best block is the one with the least cracks." Can't say that I agree with that, but I'm a novice. I'll turn it over to you experts. Is he correct? Overstating things? Just plain full of it? |
