Default 57 Ford Fairlane master cylinder non power

Any help in finding the correct master cylinder for a 57 Fairlane. Ever unit i have purchased on review on line will not match the bolt holes on the firewall. All units were to fit the 57 Fairlane. Any unit with the 18000 series will not match bolt location spacing on the firewall. ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE

If you are replacing the OEM single-circuit, single-reservoir master cylinder, it should not be unlike the one that came on my 55 Tbird. There are four mounting tabs, and I think Ford continued to use the same master cylinder until 1967. If your master cylinder is not original, it probably has 2 mounting tabs. It should be easy to figure out which of the 4 holes on the firewall to mount it to (should be the lower 2) in order for the push rod to pass through the larger center hole to be connected to the brake pedal. You'll need to insert bolts in the upper, unused holes that screw into the brake-pedal hanger.

It should be the easiest master cylinder in the world to find. They used them from at least 1954 thru at least the mid '60's in Ford cars and trucks.

I just looked up a 57 Fairlane master cylinder on RockAuto; it looks just like my 55 MC (manual brakes) and even has the same size 1-inch piston. Maybe your brake-pedal hanger is not aligned with all four firewall holes, in which case you won't be able to install all four bolts.

If you still have trouble, post a photo of the master cylinder that you're trying to install.

Dennis,
Too many people " guessing " , and incomplete Chineseum listings on the USELESS internet.....
There are TWO (2) Master Cylinders for *** 1957 - 1959 *** ONLY *** ( N O T utilized into the 1960s on Cars or Trucks....)

The spread / bolt pattern from the Upper to the Lower Bolts are 2 1/4 " and 1 1/2 ",
And I am betting that you have the far more difficult to obtain 1 1/2 " application.....

I have them Brand New / NO Core Required.....
P.M. me, if interested.... Craig .....

How could Dennis read replies without the internet? This site would not exist without it.

Are you saying there is a different mounting pattern between MANUAL (B7A 2140-A) and POWER (B7A 2140-B)?

Are yours FORD NOS or period aftermarket?

He has the one I have on my wagon sounds like. Yes there are two different sized MC's (why I don't know). I actually found mine through a NAPA dealer.

The stock, non power-assist master cylinder has a 1-inch bore. When I converted to Wilwood Dynalite 4-piston front discs, both Wilwood and Dave (Drop 'em, Stop 'em) recommended 15/16ths (still manual).

Are you saying you are unable to PM the seller as you are a new member?

THANX! for sharing that info ...

More info -

AJ-2155-A is the CASTING ID NO for the MC HSNG only.

B7A 2140-A is the FORD SERVICE PART (OEM) NUMBER.
