powerhouse and timing plate
I bought an engine with reinforced early timing plate and powerhouse.
When I want to put the powerhouse on the engine, the bolt doesn't fit the timing plate hole but fit later's ones (Bolt is too big). Which part is wrong ? What can I do ? |

Re: powerhouse and timing plate
Looking at the judging standars, it says that the powerhouse 1 mounting bolt was 7/16" until Dec 1927, then P2 used 1/2" -20 by 2 7/8"until September 1928, then P3 used used the same bolt as P2 until they swaped to a normal generator in July '29, so check the timing gear cover and see what size bolt it is. Hope this helps

Re: powerhouse and timing plate
Thank you very much Pinesdune.
I'll check in few days but year (early 1928) and bolt suggest I probably need to buy a later reinforced timing plate... or an earlier powerhouse. |

Re: powerhouse and timing plate
Is the mounting bolt the problem, or is the adjustment strap bolt not fitting?

In my short time of owning a model A, I've learned one major thing, they changed things on the car constantly through production. Here's a link to Steve Plucker's site, lots of info, the link will take you to his info on U-joint covers http://www.plucks329s.org/studies/studies_ujoint.html How do you mean the transmission shaft is different? If you are referring to the input shaft on the transmission, their are two options, one that fits a multidisc clutch (early 28) and the one for the single disc. Do you have any pics? Looking for the front bumper emblem that has "Ford, Made In Canada" |
