Anyone know where I can buy a convertible top to have installed on Long Island?
It seems that most auto upholstery shops don't want to make the top. They want me to bring them the top and they will install it.

Since lebaron bonney went under I believe the only kit too available is from cartouche .
I got one from them when lebaron bonney was still in business because it was significantly less and I opened it up , laid it out on the irons and sent it back. Terrible contour and cut .
I ordered the lebaron bonney and it had issues as well but I made it work. I do my own toos.

My suggestion would be to find someone who can do the correct hartz cloth material and can do a custom job, I have a customers 36 cabriolet in the shop now and the drivers side fits poorly and passenger fairly well.

It’s a matter of making sure the irons and the cut and fit of the top is proper and I believe the custom job is the only way to do that now. These cars are too expensive to get cheap on a top which can make the car look bad and your ultimately dissatisfied.

Just my 2 cents worth. Find someone who can handle the job, even if it cost $$$$.

I took a couple minuets, and did a Google search for:
Custom Made Convertible Tops close to Long Island, NY
and found a few different places that make Convertible Tops.
Hope you find a place you trust.

My trimmer made a basic template up in clear plastic sheet. We had nothing to go by except photos and the top irons themselves. The photo of my 35 Aussie roadster. Good luck. Dan.

While this place is not close it is doable. He used to do work for Dingman and got his start with Lebarron Bonney. He will custom fit the top to your car.

Electron Top in Richmond Hill (718) 846-7400 and ARO2000 in Walden, NY 845-778-1314 I got the top for my '39 Ford Convertible Sedan from Electron Top and the top for my '39 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Club Coupe from ARO2000. Both excellent quality.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I had the top done on my 40 about three years ago. It was installed locally and I told the shop the exact color white and type of Vinyl I wanted. I'm happy with the job. I noticed when I got it home there's a tag inside labeled E-Z On Auto Tops. Maybe that will help you out.
