Default Capillary tube location - 21 stud Ford Flathead

Can someone tell me where the location is for a water temp capillary tube bulb on a 21 stud flathead motor ? Motor has water pumps bolted to each head. I have aftermarket vintage speed equipment on it: Eddie Meyer heads, Thickstun PM tall intake.

If the original motors did not have one from the factory where would you experts install a female fitting/s for such a tube to monitor temps of each side ?

Thx DME.

35-36 had the temp probe in the drivers side waterpump housing [LH head].

Thanks Brian my only concern is the length of the bulb , being 2 inches wasnt sure it would fit properly ? I need to order a tube to replace a broken one that wasnt with motor when I found it.

DME, The bulb, coil wrapped tubing, and glass indicator bulb is all one unit. There is no place to just order part of the assembly. Some say they are repairable, but you're better off to obtain a complete working assembly.

Thanks everyone for the help. I was planning on ordering a whole new unit attached to my old gauge. Just couldnt figure out where it was supposed to thread in. The water pump fitting makes perfect sense. Thanks again !!

33-34 Fords did not come with a temperature gauge so their water pumps do not have the boss for the temperature bulb. There was an accessory dual temp/fuel gauge. It had it's temperature bulb inserted into the upper radiator hose through a special fitting that came with the gauge when new. There is a good photo of the fitting on page 5-19 & 5-21 of the Club restoration book.

Dusty,Does your gauge look like this? The second pic is of the back of a '32 dualtemp but essentially the temp line and nut are exactly like the 33-34.

Nice!! similar to what I run, 37 block, early eddie meyer heads, twin carbs etc...you'll notice the provision for the temp gauge in the LH waterpump housing
