Default 8BA spark plug wire looms??

I am mocking up my rebuilt 8BA. It did not come with the looms/tubes for the spark plug wires. Does 8BA use these, What years fit. What do the mount to? I need some education. Also using Charley NY distributor. Thanks

These are what 8BA looms look like...... they route the plug wires that cross the intake between the carb and the generator. The right side is in a similar location. They use intake bolts to hold them in place........Mark

Great and good to know. I think the engine had aftermarket brackets that served the same function. I have to look thru the parts box. I am not an absolute stickler especially since the engine already has some other non original items like the carb and intake, alternator and distributor.

The early 8BA's had simpler looms in which the wires all went through one big loop. I try to avoid those. Most of the "4-leaf clover" looms (as shown) have the rubberized coating damaged. What I do is strip the rest of it off, sandblast the metal base, and dip them in the plastic coating they sell to coat tool handles. It takes a little practice, but they come out looking original. (Or, you can have different colors.)

I took some early looms cut the tube where it dog legs down, cut the flute off and rewelded it to the straight tube. I relocated the mounts that go under the intake bolts.

Scott: You can make your own "clover type" by brazing or welding washers together.

I might try that. I can't weld but I did buy a torch a year or two ago and braised closed a hole in an oil pan.

Here's an example of washers brazed to the OEM Ford style so as to allow 4 or 6 wires to pass through at different angles so I could reroute the plug wires a little neater. Then use small grommets for the wires. The black things are plastic wire separators. Wires are 8mm.
