Bed wood tie-town bolts question
Hi all, I’m getting ready to replace the plank hold-down straps in the bed on my 1940 Frankenstein PU ! Is the spacing / bolt pattern on them the same on multiple years? I plan on ordering for the ‘42 bed but knowing that pattern is standard across the Early Ford PU’s will put my mind at ease ! As I believe PO started with a 1942 chassis, cab & bed then put a ‘40 nose clip on it.

Re: Bed wood tie-town bolts question
Thx Newc, I Probly didn’t explain well. I wasn’t concerned with the length of the bed as I can cut the hold down straps to fit, but the bolt pattern is the question. The spacing between the bolt holes in the hold down straps & the support cross frame support for the planks, Is that the same on all Early ford PU beds?

Re: Bed wood tie-town bolts question
The Early Ford 1/2 Ton Pickup bed, 1940 and 1941, did not have wood slats, they had a metal bed. There was wood under the metal. If you are looking in the bed from the top and seeing wood, it is aftermarket

I've attached some photos of a '40 bed. Do these help you? The metal bed was integral of the sides. And, as you can see, the wood is below the sheet metal floor. My guess, without seeing your box, is it has been "repaired" though the years. It seems most guys go the quick route and install wood on top with the slats you'd referred to.

Re: Bed wood tie-town bolts question
Thx Kube for the pics, my bed significantly different. Pretty sure it’s not a ‘39-‘41. Thinking a ‘42-‘46. I’ll post some pics.
