I am trying to get a '65 Mustang bark on the road that as been setting many years. The rest of my fords range from '28 to'57 so not that familiar with the '65.

Have gone through all the brakes. New wheel cylinders, shoes ect. I bought a master cylinder at the parts store couple weeks ago. Looked like mine. Gave them my old one for core.

When I got around to bleeding the brakes the flare fitting at the m/c leaked.

When I examined the m/c closely it has no cone shape shoulder for the flair to butt against.

Checked two other parts stores their m/c are the same. Called a friend in another state and asked about his 64 1/2 and 65. He stated he has a brass "T" one side for line the other for brake light SW.

My car has the brake light switch on the brake peddle arm, not a pressure switch.

None of the parts houses here have a fitting to convert the m/c to a flair fit.

Is the pressure brake light switch the norm? My mechanical switch looks to be factory.

My guess at this time the original m/c (that I gave up as a core, and can no longer examine) had a flair type fitting in the end.

Is that type m/c available ? Is there an adapter avialable?

MUSTANGS were all titled as 65's even the 64 1/2 . the early ones called 64 1/2s had many small differences. they had a pressure switch. the 65 models had the switch on the brake pedal ,so yours is correct.

forgot to tell you that my 65 has a small brass adapter for the line to screw into. you might have to go to a NAPA or carquest or any good old style parts store in order to find it. most good parts stores will have a good assortment of brass brake adapters.

Check the outlet port on the master cylinder. It may be threaded for 1/8" pipe threads. If it is, then you can get an adapter fitting to go from pipe thread to inverted flare fitting.
