29 Tudor floor mat and carpet
I know that the 29 Tudor had rubber mats front and back. However I have a rear carpet that was purchased by someone else way before I started working on the car, so I planned to use the rear carpet as long as I had it.
Please look at the photo I have attached. Is this the way it is supposed to look? I assumed that the front and rear mats would meet or overlap?

Re: 29 Tudor floor mat and carpet
Originally, the rear mat had holes for the seat pegs and butted up to the rear edge of the front mat.

Thanks for the reply Gary. Any chance you could post some pix of that area?

Re: 29 Tudor floor mat and carpet
Depending on just when your 1929 Tudor was assembled, my February 1929 Tudor has carpet...just when the cut-off was for carpet to rubber mat I have no idea.

The Tudor that I am working on has a April 1929 date. Does anyone know when the cut off was. Also, when I look at how short the carpet that I have is--my first thought is maybe it was for a four door car?

I am not sure of the change...all I know is this February 1929 Tudor that I have with its original rear floor mat was and is carpet. So sometime after that. If your Tudor has the floor mat metal pegs attached to the body, then for sure it was a rubber mat in the back. Pluck |

Re: 29 Tudor floor mat and carpet
The changeover from carpets to mats was sometime in late '28 and rubber mats were to be used in the '29 Tudors. Steve's Tudor is very late to still have carpets. The mat stays on the metal subframe cross brace were to secure the front mat. No mat stays were used to secure the rear mat. It was held in place by the holes for the front seat pegs. Here are a couple of not great pictures.

Re: 29 Tudor floor mat and carpet
Thanks Steve and Gary for your replies.
When I got the car there were no mats/carpet in it. All that I had was what came with the car--(rubber front mat and rear carpet) I don't know if they were purchased by the previous owner or the present owner. Whoever bought them ordered the wrong front rubber mat (I have since purchased the correct front rubber mat). They must have ordered the wrong rear carpet as well. Why they bought carpet for the rear I have no clue--the previous owner has passed. There were five male snaps in the rear seat area. See photo. They look like the snaps in the photos that Steve sent me. Is it possible that my Tudor had rear carpet??? If it did have carpet then the empty space between the rear carpet and the front rubber mat is the way it was??? (except the carpet that I have is too short)
