Default Degreasing a tranny

What to you Barners use to degrease a tranny thick with hard grease? Usually I use scrapers and screw drivers and a lot of time. Spray Oven cleaner and put the thing in a trash bag for a week? T don't have steam or high pressure water

My trans was filled, ... YES, filled with grease. It took a pressure washer connected to my hot water heater and Purple Power to clean it after I first hand scooped the majority out.

It took well over an hour and let's just say, ... don't walk in your de-greasing area and then onto your carpet anytime soon. It's the reason I now own a carpet cleaner.

Regards
Bill

Scrapers, screwdrivers, etc. first to get the chunks off then move to a large shallow pan and spray on carb cleaner a couple of times and scrub with a brush.

Help full hint on the pressure washing to keep the mess to a minimum. Take a pallet ant take a old sheet and tack on top of it. Take any old plywood and make a box with a lid to go over the top . Drill some large hole saw type holes around at different locations on top and sides. Spray away The sheet will catch a lot if not most of the sprayed off grease. From what you are cleaning up. It might take a little longer but it will keep a lot of the mess down and off of you .

1st thing you do is spend the $120 on a small electric power washer...you'll be glad you did.

Thanks. When I degreased a early model A, I rented a pressure washer, parked the A over some old sheets and blasted away. The sheets caught most of the gunk.
